Where are the Local Listings?

Where are the Local Listings? They're on my new website Locally Owned Locally Made Gosford at lhttp://locallygosford.blogspot.com.au/.

Feedback made urgent the moving of the Local Listings to the new site, so they can flourish without having to be hunted down on this site.

Locally Owned Locally Made Gosford
will have live links to businesses websites and business phone numbers for tradespeople and others who don’t need websites. When I first go live, I’ll be putting up some live links and phone numbers for free until I have things sorted out and I’m ready to charge (standard) pay-per-click rates. Enjoy!

Dog Friendly Gosford

This is the second of 4 articles I am posting on this blog today. For the first one, scroll down or click "older posts". For the next 2 articles, if they're not posted yet, wait 15 minutes because I haven't posted them yet!

This is my dog. He’s a good dog but does like to eat disgusting things in the park and roll in even worse things.

Below is a list of the dog-friendly businesses and parks I know of in the Greater Gosford area. As I eat and drink at more dog-friendly cafes, have a look at more dog-friendly motels and resorts and bed-&-breakfasts, let my dog off the leash in more off-leash spots and, of course, buy from more pet shops, I’ll add to the list.

All businesses listed below are locally owned. I support small business on the NSW Central Coast.

I have not been nor will I be paid for mentioning the businesses on this list. I’ve complied it for other dog owners living in or visiting the Gosford area. Happy walkies!

Unfenced off-leash parks

Hylton Moore Park
East Gosford, bounded by Russel, Althorp & Newcastle Streets, turn left after the East Gosford shops if heading towards Erina, turn right at the lights at the pub if heading towards Gosford
Grassed park with gentle dips and slopes

Fenced off-leash parks

Sensory Park Narara
West side of Showground Road, between Glennie Street West & Bellbowrie Avenue
Weekends are the best time

So far, this is the only fenced off-leash park in the Gosford area. The next closest one is in Second Avenue in Tuggerah. The Narara one opened around December 2015 and has been popular ever since.

What's good about fenced off-leash parks?

They're ideal for puppies, rescues and naughty dogs. They learn canine etiquette and social skills by the monkey-see-monkey-do method. All you have to do is keep an eye on them and swap funny dog stories with your fellow dog owners.

Off-leash beaches

Umina Beach
Enter opposite the basketball hoop at the oval at the end of Sydney Avenue to the south end of the beach or via the tiny carpark in Berrima Crescent off Mount Ettalong Road
A lovely long stretch with views of Lion Island & the Barrenjoey Head lighthouse, popular in summer and winter & with the holidayers from the caravan park at the east end of the beach

Dog-baiting hotspots

Garnett Adcock Park Gosford
Central Coast Highway, enter at the racecourse lights or at Adcock Avenue
I haven't been there for quite a while but I hear rumours the baiter has not yet been caught. If you have fresher information on the baiter and/or the baiting methods, please let me and other readers know in the comments section at the end of this post. Just click on “make a comment" at the end.

The type of baits at Adcock Park changes frequently, a sandwich for a while then some other food dogs like such as part of a sausage or something else. Watch your dog carefully and carry doggy treats to avoid them picking up found food.

Lance Webb Reserve Ettalong
From Picnic Parade to Ferry Road
Again, I’ve avoided this spot for a while due to baiting so any fresh news would be appreciated. Ask the pet shop in the main street of Ettalong for fresh news.

What I feed my dog

A few liver treats

Everything I feed him is recommended by or okayed by my vet.

What do you feed your dog? (Click on “comments” below to let me know.)

As I said above, no business has paid to have their business listed in this article. I have listed them for other dog owners in the area or visiting.

This is one of 4 articles I will post on this blog today. Scroll down to see the earlier ones or wait 10 minutes to read them all.

  1. Great post, thanks for this. Your dog has got the same colouring as a tri-colour beagle - black, tan and white!
